Sophie

Sophie is mostly saddlebred, we think. She is about 20, we think. We don't have anything specific on her other than she was sold in Amish country at the New Holland auction where the meat truck was the high bidder. She was soon to be on a trip to a Canadian slaughter house to be prepared for a European dinner plate.

Sophie was rescued by Saddlebred Rescue and put up for adoption. Arbordale Riding Academy adopted her in October of 2007 to use for our lesson program. Sophie had other plans and surprised us with a baby in February 2008 (see Tessa).

Sophie is still used for the occasional lesson and has a sweet, funny personality. If I had waited to know her better before naming her, I probably would have called her Lucille Ball. She is fiesty, funny and loveable and is a comedian at heart.
